Originally founded by author and designer Penelope (Penny) C. Paine in 1999, Paper Posie’s Kids at Weddings line has set the standard for books and products for children at weddings and supports the idea that building traditions for children is best achieved with happy events and meaningful memories.
Since arriving in the United States in 1982, Itoko Maeno has illustrated more than thirty children's picture books with her enchanting, softly classic watercolor characters. Four of her titles have won national awards.
A self-professed lover of detail, Itoko enjoys the creative process of each project. "I love the way the images evolve," she explains. "As I do my research for each assignment, carefully sketching the characters and surrounding environment, I often become part of that character. Sometimes they surprise me."
With a zest for the whimsical and an intense attention to detail, Itoko brings a unique sense of fun to the Paper Posie product line.
Though Itoko lives in Santa Barbara, California, her artwork has been exhibited nationwide. She enjoys teaching for the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, reading and growing flowers. She is a graduate of Tokyo's Tama Art University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design.
Since 1968 Carl has been teaching painting and drawing in the Central New York area and has also served as an adjunct professor for Syracuse University and other colleges. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Illustration from Syracuse University. His work is represented in permanent, corporate and private collections throughout the US and Europe. Women’s Day and Better Homes and Gardens magazines have featured his artwork.
Penny has a fine arts degree from the University of London. As a former teacher, non-profit executive, and state and national educational trainer, Penny has many years of experience working with children, especially girls. In creating the imaginative books and products for Paper Posie, she has combined her great eye for style along with her background in education to provide quality materials for today’s multicultural world.
Penny is the author and creative force behind eight award-winning children's “concept” picture books and Paper Posie’s Kids at Weddings collection. In addition to her own books and products she has provided art direction, content editing and production support for many other authors.
